December 1st // 12 Years Later
December 01, 2019December 1, 2007 - I was baptized 🙏🏻
December 1, 2019 - Olive’s first day at church 😍
The exact same day, 12 years apart. From baptism to baby ❤️
Last Sunday was Olive’s first day at church, the exact same day I was baptized 12 years ago. I loved being able to celebrate this special anniversary with a first for Ollie. My baptism still holds a special place in my heart - some of my fondest memories happened during my journey leading up to baptism.
My faith has morphed & I’ve changed a lot since 2007, but one thing has remained constant - my faith in Jesus Christ. That He lived a perfect life, chose to experience our pain, and then sacrificed His life so we could be redeemed. I still have a lot of unanswered questions & frustrations about religion but I feel strongly about the existence of Jesus Christ and His love for us. It was this faith that led me to baptism 12 years ago and it’s this faith I hope we can share with Olive as she grows up.
I started crying singing Christmas songs at church, realizing Ollie is going to go on a spiritual journey of her own like I did 12 years ago and that I’ll be able to witness her make those decisions about whatever she feels is right. Realizing this on the anniversary of my baptism probably made me more emotional than a regular ol day - felt like things were coming full circle.
Ollie handled all the attention & excitement of her first day at church like a champ...but is wearing her second outfit of the day since she made sure to gift me with a blowout during Sunday School 🤣
